Warning: This newsletter is going to be short. Because I am tired. Period.
Writing Tea
Rinse and Repeat
I got through the editing season with some of my head still intact. It was a miracle.
I sent off my edits for Losing Sight. Still waiting to see if more need to happen before the line and proofreading. I am praying folks enjoy it. New imprint. New novel. My nerves are especially bad for this.
The Offer is also done, Fully done. Including the format. Even sent it over to Dreamscape for the audiobook. Thanks to my editor, Bianca Shakur, who got things done for me.I sent a little preview to my ARC gang, and they loved the cover. Speaking of which, the cover reveal for that will come May 15.
I also made this little “tropes” graphic for IG and TikTok
The synopsis:
Alisa hasn’t had the best of luck. Her dream of expanding her salon into a franchise has stalled. Her dating life is non-existent. She spends her nights with wine, takeout, and thriller marathons. Looking to spice up her life, she heads back to the one place she knows will satisfy her desires. Little does she know that one night of passion (and a leaked photograph) will upend her life in more ways than one.
Christophe and Kadeem have been together for years, living and loving under the radar. Their relationship is solid but they’ve always felt that someone was missing from their lives. When they think they’ve met “the one” at a private sex club, they are intent on making her theirs. Permanently. The problem: Convincing her that one night will never be enough.
The reposts of the trope graphic were going bananas! I appreciate it so much. If any of these tropes are your jam, then The Offer is for you. :)
Just to repeat some things:
The Oath is dropping on audiobook May 14. You can already preorder it everywhere just about.
The great Lacy Laurel will narrate it. So excited. To hear a snippet, head over to her podcast where she read a bit for the Femme Audio Takeover.
At the time of this newsletter, we are anticipating a date change. The Offer, book 2, will have a simultaneous release (fingers crossed) on either July 30 or August 6.. Audio, Kindle, Paperback….
Listen, don’t ask me about Book 3 (The Opportunity) or what is next for me. I need a few weeks to regroup and get my game plan on deck. Again, I’ve struggled these past few weeks. We will get into that later.
Podcast Tea
We only have a few more weeks until the conclusion of the podcast. We have a few bonus episodes this month until we conclude April with an interview with Rhonda McKnight.
In the meantime, stay tuned for the the rest of the season’s podcast. Every other Friday!
Random Thoughts
As I mentioned earlier, I've been struggling. Mentally and physically. I turned 45 March 28th, and I felt it in my bones and in my spirit. I am trying to get back to square one, but it has been hard.
I had some health concerns that I needed to tackle head on. It really put mortality into perspective.
I felt my confidence rocked. I felt like I was a terrible writer. Like, who was going to read this bullshit? Is this even worth putting out? I felt inadequate and my anxiety was through the roof. My therapist tried to help. I say I tried because I was not feeling it. For my birthday, I had a weekend to just decompress, full of good food and the Korean spa, complete with saunas and foot massage. I needed it.
I think that helped to reset me. I stopped having the shakes because of anxiety. I slept better. I ate better. And I could move on and accomplish tasks, relieving myself from stress. Getting shit done, basically.
It was a reminder to slow down and have some self care. Otherwise, I was going to burn out. Lesson learned.
Tati is Reading
I have read little, to be honest. I read in snatches. But the last thing I read was One Eighty by Charity Shane.
It was a nasty, “wake up married” plot with an urban fiction twist. I ate it up. I wish I could write urban fiction well but I don’t think I have it in me. These sisters in the genre are truly talented.
Until next time,
