Sorry that the newsletter is so late but better late than never…
Writing Tea
July is here. And summer will be over before you know it.
I’m going to keep this newsletter very brief, as I am technically still on vacation. As far as writing is concerned, I finished one WIP, tapping out at around 73K words. I sent it to beta readers, and I received pretty decent feedback. After making a few tweaks, I am waiting to hear about it from my agent.
I am still working on the follow up to The Build Up, but I have a bit of a block regarding it. I think I’m going to employ the technique of writing out the synopsis again to see where I want to go with the narrative. Jamal is probably one of my fave male characters I’ve ever written. He’s fun. He’s a playboy. He’s a flirt, even at over forty. But he is also a big softie. I think readers will enjoy him.
Podcast Tea
We are still on hiatus and will be back in September after Labor Day. We will be bi-monthly, with two podcasts a month. We will devote one episode a month to interviews with authors.
I also plan on doing another panel like we did a couple of years ago. That’ll be really fun.We have some ideas brewing.
Our author sign up list will be available soon.
So, if you are interested in being our season 5 BookToker who wants to share their book picks, hit me up on social media or email romanceincolour@gmail.com. Must read BIPOC books foremost, across a variety of romance subgenres, indie and traditionally published.
Random Tea
I have a few events that I am super excited about.
July 29, I will do a Q&A with My Cousin’s Book Club here in Atlanta. I am so excited to talk to a group of readers who picked my book as their July book of the month. It’ll be at The Book Cellar in Conyers. Super excited to support an indie bookstore as well.
Unfortunately, this isn’t open to the public but do support The Book Cellar if you are in Conyers!
I am also preparing myself for One Love Reunion in August. I am so excited that I’ll be hosting a Romance Speed Dating event with some of my faves like Synithia Williams, Savannah Frierson, and many other talented sisters.
There is also going to be a book signing as well. Just to let you all know, if you plan on attending, there will only be 20 copies of The Build Up available. So get there early so you can get a copy and have me sign it.
December 2, (I know that’s far away), I will attend the Jubilee of Reading with DeKalb County Public Libraries. I am so excited. As a kid who grew up in the DCPS, the library was my haven. I got my first library card from Scott-Candler library on Candler Rd. I read so many books that the librarian knew my name like Matilda.
Tati is Reading
I have been reading, man! WHEW! And listening to mad audiobooks. But my faves this month have been.
The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest, her first book in adult romance. Loved it! (even my husband enjoyed it as we listened on our way to Florida)
The Grim Reaper’s Lawyer by Mea Monique Funny as hell!!! And sexy. I love sexy and funny.
The Love Languages Series (books 1-6) from BriAnn Danae There are 6 books/connected novellas but man, it was hot as hell! The smut was smutting but there was also a plot!
Nope, I’m not telling you all what any of these books are about. LOL. Just get them. And yes, this was a short newsletter, but hey, you got a little something. :)
Until next month,
