Writing Tea
Summer has come and gone….and although I haven’t given you a newsletter in a minute, I am here with some updates. Well, sort of.
Writing is going as well as expected. I’ve had to battle getting sick more than once, getting a kid acclimated to school schedules, and losing a grandparent, all while trying to work a full-time job and be a decent, healthy functioning adult.
But we are still here…still standing… still strong! (Antoinne Fisher voice)
Losing Sight is done, baby! I gave you all an exclusive with the cover last month and from there, we moved pretty fast. We already have galleys ready to go for ARCs and even the printed ARCS as well. I cannot wait until my ARC readers, fellow authors, and book influencers read about Tanika and Gideon, their crew of friends/family, and their unconventional journey to love.
In the meantime, pre-order the book! If you want to see it on the shelves, hit up B&N or BookShop.org before you consider Amazon. Those make a real impact in moving the needle in terms of what they’ll stock. PRE-ORDER HERE
No word on the audiobook narrators but I have really high hopes. I sent a list of my dream narrators and I pray I get someone from the list. Fingers Crossed!
My goals are STILL as follows:
Finish Book 3 in the Secrets Series, The Opportunity. Just forget all the stuff I said about what the book is about. LOL. It’ll be a book. Ya’ll may like it. You may not. But, it’s my offering and the last one of the series. for now
Finish book 2 , the follow up to Losing Sight. I can tell you that Jackie and Antonio are a fucking riot. You do a get a sneak peek of their “enemies-to-lovers” dynamic at the end of Losing Sight.
Also, don’t ask me about nary another book. These are my focus right now and that’s all I got the energy for. Seriously…. I can only focus on two book right now. SMH.
Podcast/Social Media Tea
The podcast returns September 13 with our first guest of Season 6, with author Taylor B. Yakini and I are excited and can’t wait for the new season to start.
In the meantime, stay tuned for the rest of the season’s podcast. Every other Friday!
Random Thoughts
Summer brought with it another indie book release with The Offer, another audio book release, a special edition of The Oath via Steamy Lit, and my indie book, The Oath, hitting the USA Today Best Seller List. What a shocker! I don’t let anything go to my head but that was a blessing. Having my fellow author friends inbox me and congratulate me was truly an other wordly experience.
But…we focus on the next thing. Onward and upward…
Right now, I am getting book events on the schedule for late 2024-2025. Losing Sight is a big endeavor,
My first event will be RRAW in Alexandria, VA in November 1-2, 2024. I am so amped because the DMV is one of my fave spots and this is my first time participating. I also get to meet my idols, Beverly Jenkins and Brenda Jackson. I may just faint... so.. prepare the ambulance to cart me off.
Tentatively, the schedule should be as follows:
Losing Sight Book Launch- Feb 11, 2025 at Eagle Eye Books, Decatur, GA. (Pre-Order campaign coming soon so be on the look out!)
TBD- Love Ya’ll Fest - Decatur, GA (February 2025) Still unsure about this one as I haven’t been confirmed.
CONFIRMED: Black Romance Book Fest (May 30-31) in Atlanta, GA
Tentative- One Love Fest (New Orleans, LA) - Summer 2025
Tentative- Steamy Lit- Anaheim, CA (October 2025)
I am hoping that I also have some other events lined up at book stores and with book clubs. If you are interested in having me at your bookish event, feel free to drop me an email.
Tati is Reading
I’ve had terrible insomnia due to congestion and being sick. So, BookTok got me with this one. I just read a three-book series by J.S. Durst, When I Knew You’d Lose Me Too. I can definitely see this being a movie or a TV series. Very thrilling. Lots of twist and turns that I wasn’t expecting.
I also read Just Right by Shon. A Goldilocks, MMFM retelling that was all the sweet and spice. I really enjoyed it.
But, I am putting my extensive reading list on hold until I knock out these books. It is so hard to read and also have to write. You don’t want stuff accidentally filtering into your own work.
Until next time,
